Christmas Open Studio ~ 12.1.13

Yesterday was my Christmas Open Studio, an event held almost every year for awhile now. My words feel sparse, as often they do at this time of year, when I begin to go more deeply within, slow down and meditate over the year that is leaving. Wonderful children visited, children who engaged with my work, asking about all the “people” they saw in my space. Even baby Wren would at times notice something particular, clasp her hands together, eyes shining with wonder. Then she would clap and smile. Nora, who is just 3, but quite articulate, asked if she could hold a wee pink fairy, less than 2″ tall. Gently she held out her chubby hand and gasped with astonishment when the teeny doll was placed in her palm.

Nothing can equal the unsolicited recognition and appreciation that children express. Thank you Wren, Nora and Liam and your amazing parents! This moment will linger on in cherished significance.
